Kaizen Inserts

If you hate cluttered tool boxes that you have to dig through then you need to look at an insert. Unfortunately most inserts are very expensive and have to be cut by a CNC which makes it hard for you to pick tool placement. Enter Kaizen inserts... Brian P Way is an owner and master craftsman at BP WAY Millwork. He condensed his company from a 9000sf shop to an 1100sf barn. So he understands the importance on being near and efficient. That is why he delivers Kaizen foam inserts. Now I have to admit. When I first started working with the foam I was skeptical about how well my results would turn out. And it was a bit of trial and error. Overall I am very pleased with the results. Brian was kind enough to provide me with a marking tool and a knife with the foam and these were awesome. The marking tool is essentially a long skinny sharpie. It works very well and my only complaint is the color. It would be nice if it marked in silver since the black on black was a little hard to see, at least in the lighting I had. The knife was a great add in. Since you can fully extend the blade it is nice for getting through multiple layers of foam without making jagged cuts. I would recommend getting an extra blade though since the foam dulls the blade very quickly. I do highly recommend having a map or butane torch some pliers and about 3” of copper pipe handy if you have access to them. Once you have made your cuts you can heat up the pipe and use it to smooth out the sides and bottom as well as make indents for fingers to grab your tool. The key to a good install is planning. I wish I had spent a little more time on this and I did end up boogering it up in one spot. This probably won’t be an issue with cordless and hand tools but I was trying to cram three corded tools in a small box. In the end the booger wasn’t that bad and doesn’t really effect the use of the product. Just make sure before you cut because once you cut it you can’t put it back together. The end result is very professional looking and provides excellent organization and protection for my tools. I look forward to purchasing more inserts and using these products in the future.
